GIS Day is an annual international event that celebrates GIS and its contributions to society. The first GIS Day was declared in 1999, to be celebrated by Professor Jack Dangermond, the co-founder of ESRI.

Since then, GIS Day has become an annual international event. The celebration includes a series of conferences, workshops, round tables and presentations which are held in many countries around the world.

The intent of this day is to provide a focal point for discussion among all those who are interested in geographic information science and technology.

The idea of the event is to help promote GIS technology to a wider audience.

When Is GIS Day 2023?

GIS Day is an annual event held on the 3rd Wednesday in November every year. 

This year it is being held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

The goal of this day is to bring together members of the GIS community and celebrate their achievements, promote the use of geospatial technology, and inspire new generations to enter the field.

Next Year GIS Day is coming on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
